Our Statement
of Faith

Shiloh Garden Statement of Faith

We believe in the Bible – God's Holy Word, Scripture. We believe God inspired every word of the original writings of the Scripture and those original writings were consequently without error.

It is only in the totality of the Word of God that God’s mind and heart on any matter can be revealed, and thus the following are imperfect and limited descriptions of key matters governing our world view and faith:

We believe in one God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of all things visible and invisible.

We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the eternal Word, the one and only Savior:

  • Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, of virgin birth, both fully human and fully divine;

  • Who lived a sinless life though confronted with every temptation that a man can experience;

  • Who suffered and was crucified as an atonement for sin;

  • Who rose again bodily from the dead on the third day;

  • Who ascended into Heaven; and

  • Who will return to the earth in victory to rule forever.

We believe in the Holy Spirit:

  • Who convicts of sin; Who indwells every Christian; Who helps them in their weaknesses and intercedes for them in prayer; and Who empowers them to live fruitful Christian lives.

We believe in the Gospel, the good news of salvation.

  • That man, created by God, willfully sinned in disobeying God and is consequently separated from God and without hope apart from Jesus Christ.

  • That salvation, the forgiveness of sins, is only by grace through the blood of Jesus Christ.

  • That God offers redemption and restored access and fellowship with Him to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

We believe that the Church consists of all Christians everywhere and is organized into local assemblies, called churches.

We believe that the Bible teaches that God is the Creator and Sustainer of human life; that God creates each person in His image. We believe that God creates each person as male or female; that these two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the "image of God" in humankind; and that each person's biological gender is an intrinsic, immutable aspect of his or her nature and identity.

We believe the Bible teaches that God established marriage in the beginning as an exclusive and permanent relationship between one man and one woman.

We believe that every person must be afforded equal value, compassion, love, kindness, respect and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior directed toward any individual should be repudiated as not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines and practices of the Organization.

We believe that in order to bring glory to Jesus Christ, as stated in the Organization’s mission statement, we must obey His commands. We believe that as The Lord Jesus said in John 14:15, “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments”, including the commandment to “seek first His kingdom and His righteousness” in Matthew 6:33, and to “love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another” in John 13:34. We believe that God’s heart for the practical care for the vulnerable is manifest through the conduct of Jesus Christ while He walked the earth as well as the exhortation that “pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction” (James 1:27).

Implementation and Statement of Final Authority
 - We believe that in order to preserve the function, integrity and spirit of Shiloh Garden as a local body of Christ, and to provide a Biblical role model to the Organization's Directors, officers, employees, administrators, volunteers and to the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by the Organization in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, agree to and abide by the Statement of Faith.

The Organization’s Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of its beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God, speaks as the final authority concerning the trust, morality and the proper conduct of mankind, and is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of this Organization's faith, doctrine, practice, policy and discipline, the Board of Directors is the Organization's final interpretive authority on the Bible's meaning and application.
